It's odd that something as old as Studio Pro might be working by iDVD doesn't.įor me good old DVD Studio Pro is still the go-to app for any sophisticated DVD work. Did yours work all the way through to a working DVD? I mean DVD Studio Pro certainly offers a lot of features, but not sure if it supports some of the latest formats, e.g BluRay etc. It fails when it goes to acutally build the output file, be that a VIDEO_TS folder, stratight to disk, or to an img file. It even plays fine within iDVD to "test" the end results of the build. I could import to iDVD and the chapters are recognized immediately and the template builds a chapters (scenes) page off the title page. I recently authored a DVD in DVD Studio Pro running El Capitan & it imported the chapter markers fine. again there's stuff on the web about it.Īfter a LOT of mucking around ( including fighting with Adobe's Encore ( if you can get it ) and DVD Studio Pro ( which is now buggy) I concluded that whatever life DVD's have left can be served with simple text button lists on a custom background ala Toast.Īside FCP 10.3 has more DVD menu functionality than 10.2 if you haven't updated. In fact you *can* design you own Toast layouts but it's done in XML. and a couple on the App Store too I think. if you google Mac DVD Menu Design theres a free, open source app out there that lets you custom lay out buttons etc. It caused a lot of trouble in my experience when students would use it because DVD Studio Pro had a learning curve. This meant that many DVD players would choke on playback. ( probably to avoid paying Dolby the license fees since iDVD was a 'free' product ). It's my recollection that it encodes the Video as MPEG2 but leaves the audio uncompressed instead of compressing it as AC3. I was on with Apple Pro Apps support and asked why it would work in Mavericks and not under El Capitan and all I got was that it wasn't supported anymore, which didn't readily explain why a MOV file that QT sees the chapters on won't render under iDVD no matter the creation codec source or even coming from iMovie (older version under El Capitan) The real insult is having to run an old copy of OSX so that iDVD will be able to render the video. Don't know if there's any difference in the MyDVD app between the two. I have a Toast 14 Pro that I haven't loaded yet and will try. You can make an OK Menu with your own background. I do it this way whenever my DVD's need two or more seperate titles on them. Of course only Toast will burn the DVD will somewhat customizable Menus. ( the insult is that FCP X won't see the chapter markers if you import it back into FCP X. If you export a file from FCPX with Chapter Marker enabled then both QT Player and Toast Titanium will see them when you open/import the file. Is there ANY software at all that works under El Capitan? I've resorted to an older MBP with Snow Leopard and bring the output from FCPX there to author a DVD. Take out the chapter markers (and tried adding with FCPX, Compressor, iMovie - all fail) and the burn to a VIDEO_TS folder works fine. Is there no DVD authoring program any longer that will recognize Chapters? iDVD (under El Capitan) reports an error at the instant it goes to render the video section. Late to this party and held off on El Capitan for a while, coming from Mavericks. I was hoping that after playing each chapter, it would go back to the main menu. The one gotcha was that after that particular chapter is done it goes right into the next chapter. The Chapters looked great and each click played the chapter. The photo was cropped on the main screen and I guess that is not customizable. Added a Jpg photo background, then burned disk. ![]() I Checked "Use Chapter marker text as subtitles(?). Brought Master file into Compressor using DVD presets. I exported that clip (including Chapter markers) as a master file. I started with a one minute clip that I added 6 chapter markers, and Modified the names Videos 1 through 6. I thought I'd just experiment with Compressor to build a very simple DVD. (yep, I'm lucky, owning a fast iNet connection) … iDVD/BR-edition, that would be charming. no one liked to sit on the couch with those 3D-glases, now they ask me to wear a helmet? For games and po*n - probably. who owns a BluRayplayer? (my son, his PS4. My market research basis is my teenage son… he teaches me a lot about viewing habits and he has changed mine too! 'broadcast' is sooo demanding (> no one needs UHD-BluRays, aside salesmen and a handful of afficionados. Therefore, you are forbidden from using a default font in this situation! Also, you’ll want to select two fonts one for all of your headings (preferably one that is thicker and looks good when the font size is 14 and above), and the other for your regular paragraph text (something that’s as readable as default font, but better looking. Be consistent - make sure all of your subheadings are the same font size. ![]() This is where you can really get creative with your font use, but don’t overdo it. For the article text, keep it all the same and readable like a default font. For everything else, you may use up to 10 fonts & sizes it all depends on the mode you need for your your publication. The question becomes whether or not each heading and each section will have a different font.Ī corporate look will use fewer fonts and a fun look. Web documents have to be treated differently since the object is to make your text look good on the screen. Arial & Helvetica have always proven reliable, but Verdana & Tahoma have become very popular in the past few years. Times New Roman is a thing of past, and there aren’t many other fonts that are good for web development unless they’re made into graphic files (which slows down your website). But for a little more flexibility, be sure to use a pixel size (px) instead of a pont size (pt). We could go on and on about how to treat other types of documents when it comes to fonts but whether you’re working on a research paper, a flyer, business cards, or even a church service program, they all have a basic feeling to be conveyed. Picking appropriate fonts will make sure that you convey the right message. So unless you want your next newsletter to look like a property deed, go get some more fonts and pick the right fonts for your document.Temperature causes an inaccurate reading while measuring your ring size.
